What is your Favorite Reality show?

Do you have a favorite reality show? One that you watch and think, hey, I could do that. Or one where you want to send members of your family?

Amazing Race is a show that I would love to see my husband and oldest son compete as they travel the world together. It would be pure entertainment as the methodical, map reading Dad works with the 21 year old, internet savvy, always right son argue their way across the continents. Both would be able to figure it out eventually, but it wouldn't be done quietly.

My oldest is settling into his semester in London and in the past two weekends has visited the beaches of Normady, France and Malaga, Spain. You can sense the past in his pictures of Normady and it was interesting that his comment about the beach was that he could truly understand why it was chosen for the invasion. His visit to France also made him feel like 4 years of French was worth it, versus his trip to Spain where he felt dumb.

So what reality show is it for you? Survivor where you get to play how to get along while eating gross things? Or how about one of those shows where they make you throw out your clothes and then teach you how to dress?

And here I thought Bert was the neurotic one. But of course my blogging friend, The Gal Herself would be Ernie. At least I'm not Oscar the Grouch or Grover...have you seen the Urban Myth rumor that Sesame Street has become politically correct and Cookie Monster is now the Veggie Monster- Not true! At least Sesame Street had some good songs and sketchs that kept me entertained along with my kids 17 years ago, wonder how much it's changed? We used to have a four cartridge set of the Sesame Street songs for the car and I bet if I asked any of my kids how to sing any of the songs, they would remember.

Found: A Television Show with a great cast

I treated myself to a new Ipod which has video and while perusing the videos available at Itunes, found a gem of a show. The Riches is a show on the Fox network with a dark, comedic story line. The cast is so much fun to watch. I am addicted. I haven't felt this way about a television show since the early days of ER or St. Elsewhere. Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard in the first season have an intense love relationship, even though both have their demons to deal with, Minnie as Dahlia is a drug addict and Eddie Izzard as Wayne has a big ego. The kids are quirky, but it works in this show. The premise is that they are travelers (think southern gypsies in an RV) who end up becoming part of the American dream, "stealing it..." Wayne passes as a lawyer and Dahlia gets a job as a dental hygienist, and oh by the way, they haven't graduated high school. But these two are a treat to watch as the lies just flow from their mouth just as easily as the Mississippi river never stops. I am hooked! Has anyone else out in my little blog world seen this show yet? What do you think?

Guilty as Charged

We just finished watching Human Footprint on National Geographic. Depressing to think of how much we use and how it impacts the world. I beat the book average and my husband and I have probably beat the wine average. The good news is that we are below average for cars and cell phones. If it comes on again, it's well worth watching. (Even during a very long Red Sox- Yankee game!)

No TT13, But Look at what I Discovered!

On Wednesday evening, I parked myself in my usual laptop, couch position and had a TT13 in mind. After 15 minutes of trying to get to links, I realized that something was very wrong with my internet connection. Upon further investigation, it was the massive patch download that my sons were in the middle of for World of Warcraft that just sucked the life out of my internet browsing. I took it to be a sign from above that I should do something else with my time than watch the pretty mac ball as internet pages very slowly loaded.

So now I have a finished hat which OMG looks a little big. I just finished it this morning, so I haven't had a chance to have my son try it on. Luckily, my kids have huge heads, really, it's true. Pictures will be up tomorrow. Since I got a lot of it done on Wednesday, I used last night to get it just about finished. Last night, that would have been around 9 pm by the time I got home from driving my son to a friend's house for a project and then attending a coach's meeting. ( Am beginning to really realize how cold watching a Nordic ski event is going to be....)

However, because my husband was traveling this week, I have had complete and total control of the television. It stayed off the first two nights, but on Wednesday, I made the mistake of watching Project Runway. I was really surprised to find out that it's a great reality show. The contestants don't vote each other out, but it's based on talent. It's amazing to me how talented people can be. Can you even imagine buying fabric one day and then the next day having a model walk your creation down the runway? And of course with talent comes some quirkiness, so I love the contestants' snarky comments.
