Well, I never finished the book Julie and Julia because I thought Julie was wound a tad too tight for me to get through the book. However, I kept the movie on my Netflix and on Wednesday afternoon, I had a little Chick flick fest with Julie and Julia and the Proposal. My dear, sweet husband is a patient guy who would have watched the movies, but the Bruins are back on and I know he enjoys the games, so I watch my chick flicks on my afternoons off. Sometimes my youngest son watches and makes comments, and it's turned into a nice time together.
Okay, so back to the movie, can I just say that I love Meryl Streep? She was my favorite part of the movie and I do have a sixth degree of separation to Julia Child. My dad once fixed one of her appliances, met her and even asked her if she had seen the skit on SNL that that they had done on her. During the movie, I thought of that story and if Meryl Streep was true to Julia, then I could see her having that conversation with my Dad. The blogging aspect of Julia was too much for me, only because I know that I have less than 7 regular readers and that's okay. I am not about to throw a nutty, because I think I have let "my readers" down if I don't blog every day or week. Blogging for me is just the opportunity to write creatively without writing for a grade. It's my voice among many. But poor Julia made blogging seem painful as she set a goal and wrote about it daily. I wonder though, if she had done the blog nine years later, would it have become a book and a movie? Or did she just know the right people in New York to get it noticed?
And yes, I enjoyed The Proposal. Betty White and Sandra Bullock are fun to watch and it was entertaining. Any other good suggestions for movies?

Best Mom in the World
At least my 14 year old thinks I am the greatest. I did something today that I have never done, I took my son out of school early to go to a movie. It was his birthday, his friends are either not home this weekend or have baseball practices/games and we knew that the movie would be crowded for the evening shows. So my son and I had a date to see Spiderman 3. It was a fun movie, just enough action and campiness to keep my attention. Okay, I cried a few tears, but not giving anything away. It was worth "breaking the rules" and my son couldn't thank me enough.
My golf game was so-so for the first time out for the year. It was breezier at the course than here at home, so that added some challenge to the game. Only one lost ball which made a spectacular splash in a pond. I loved being out with my friends, but glad we only played 9 holes, since I had to make a birthday cake.

When a High School Track Meet gets Cancelled, What is the Alternative?
The house has already been cleaned, a track meet gets canceled due to snow on the ground, laundry is done and I could've spent the afternoon playing the computer. However, we decided to go have fun.Today we did something that we don't do enough of, we went to a movie. Now you have to understand, I grew up watching Wide World of Sports which always had figure skating. I even took some figure skating classes when younger and then as an easy elective in college. I can do back crossovers pretty darn well, if I do say so myself and some spinning.
I loved figure skating and my husband hates it, with a passion. The movie trailer for Blades of Glory made me cringe, but we just had to see it. I am not the biggest Will Ferrell fan going, he basically plays the same dumb character, yet in this movie, he is perfect in the role. This movie had me laughing so hard during their first pairs competition. Is it over the top? Of course! Is it worth the price of admission? Definitely worth a matinée ticket to make you laugh.
