Garden Textures

Texture: kk_Rainy Day Screen blended at 45% opacity with mask for bird house.
Free and Easy is the prompt for today's Tuesday textures and I just had to go back to last Friday's pictures for fun. So busy during this past weekend that I did not get out to take as many pictures as I would have liked to. But looking around the garden as I planted some sunflowers, cosmos and hollyhocks, I saw so much growth in just three days. The gardens are all going to be beautiful, especially if we get some sun soon.

This is the before picture of the bird house above without textures added:

Today I planted basil in the lizard's bucket, and he is now perched on a rock looking over the back garden. I was happy to see that my picture from last Friday's Captureyour365 was picked as a Creative team member's pick of the week. I had enjoyed taking that picture and had gone overboard with many more for Friday's Find. This shot below did not make it to my Friday blog, but just like the other photo, he does look like he has something to say!
Texture: kk_savor Soft light at 71%opacity
The purple in this background are from the tulips that are still hanging in there, I predict 2 more days. Right next to them, the irises are budding and they should be in bloom by the end of the week. I like the textures on this photo and this gave me an opportunity to practice with split toning where I had the highlights a light greenish yellow and the shadows a pinkish gray. Still learning lightroom 5 and I appreciate all the tutorials and articles that are out there to help users. A tutorial at Digital Photography School for split toning for sunsets was very helpful.

  3. Amazing what a little editing does for an already great photo like your birdhouse shot. I'm just learning how to use Split Toning, too. Before Kim's S2F class, I never even clicked on that tool/panel. So much to learn! Thanks for sharing a little of your garden.
