How Do you Carry on?

Mother in Law's - Day Lilies - I dug up some of the flowers from their house to have a cheerful reminder

Tonight we got a phone call from my husband's friend at work, a co-worker was killed today in a car accident. In one of those small world scenarios, the man who died today was one of four boys who grew up two doors down from my cousins, my sister in law dated the oldest when she was in high school, my inlaws were friendly with them for a number of years and the Dad helped my husband to get a job at the company where he is still working. In 1991, one of the sons was killed in Iraq, another passed away this year of a heart attack and tonight, a third son is gone too soon. How does a parent handle this? It goes beyond grieving to reeling with grief.

You just have to live each day as if it was your last. A trite saying, but true.
