Golfing during a drought = Better Scores for Me

"Water balls" sunning themselves
We have had the driest summer here in a long time. How dry? So dry that my golf game is incredible due to the "August bounce". What is the "August bounce" all you non golfers may ask....well it's the most wonderful effect of the ball hitting the ground in front of the green and taking a few bounces move forward. It is related to the "Late Summer afternoon roll" where the ball continues rolling through the dry grass to gain at least 25+ yards on a drive. These two conditions are completely opposite of the "May Shower Ball plug" where you lose your ball in the mud and the "Early morning dew ball drag" which occurs when the wet grass slows the ball roll.
All of the above conditions never occur for the professional golfers, as they play on verdant green grass which is continually watered. Sometimes I wonder if they could even play some of the inconsistent grounds that us lowly amateurs play on each week. But, I am definitely not complaining as I have played two of my best games of golf this past week! Thank you August bounce.
