Airport Departure in Wind-Driven Snow

Amazing! that's all I can say about the Manchester Airport this morning. This past weekend has been continuous snow, nothing major, just light fluffy snow that has been easily shoveled in our part of NH. However, we had son#2 going back to school and we had some moments of stress as we realized that his flight was leaving in the middle of high winds and snow bands this morning. As long as the flight could leave, the rest of his trip would be good. (The green on the map is snow bands and thank you flight view for the updated information!)

Driving down the highway on a single band of road, with snow blowing everywhere, I wasn't sure what we would have at the airport at 4:45 am. Our hope was that if flights were delayed, that maybe he could get on another flight to avoid missing his connection. Silly me, just like a hospital, an airport is a beehive of activity no matter what the weather is up here in the Northeast. His flight took off early which can now happen due to everyone arriving early to get through security and it should be clear sailing for his connection. Thank you Manchester Airport! (And after observing the snowplows, airport workers, TSA folks and ticket agents, we decided that the De-icing crew had the coldest and hardest job this morning.)

PS- Landed safely down south after an hour wait on the plane in Philadelphiahell Airport- we always seem to experience a wait of some kind there....no disrepect towards the city of brotherly love, just the airport. And son #2 doesn't miss the snow!

  1. By now he should have made it there safely I hope! We got three inches of snow last week but it is all gone now. Hoping for more!

  2. Glad it all went well! Travel is so stressful. I'm happy to be on terra firma again for a while, and I'm sure you feel the same way about the boys.
