Why I feel Sorry for Teenagers
If seventeen year olds can be tried as adults, why can't they vote, drink, or question authority? If adults don't treat teenagers with respect, but teenagers have to treat all adults with respect, when does that change? Think about how you like to be treated and then imagine yourself as a teenager without an out. Seriously, any answers to these questions???? I think Harriet and Ozzie, along with Carol and Mike had it easier.....

ReplyDeleteUm, I spot a flaw in your premise. Teenagers don't treat adults with respect. Hideous patience, telegraphing how difficult it is to endure us, but not respect. I'm speaking from experience both as an adult and a teenager. All I EVER did back then was question authority.

ReplyDeleteI'm assuming that one of your kids got a crappy teacher who enjoys wielding power. That's too bad, and if I'm right, I bet it makes you (both as a mom and one who has a Masters in Education) crazy. The only answer I can think of is that this is a life lesson for your son, that in the workplace he's got to get along with all kinds of people -- including the occasional shitty boss.
