Looking for a Summer read? Love, Baseball and Musicals

Last night after piecing together squares for an afghan for Shelly, I picked up a book to just help me get to sleep. Such a difference from the dreadful tome of last week! My Most Excellent Year by Steve Kluger was just a fun read. Check out this excerpt from the author's website. The story is about three ninth graders and is written from their viewpoints in the form of assignments, emails, text messages and diary entries.

As a Boston native, I enjoyed the references to Boston and one of the character's obsession with the Red Sox. As a former chorus member, the other character's obsession with musicals is fun to read. It's nice story of three friends, their families, coming out as a teenager, baseball, politics and musicals.

There you have it, a book that I loved enough to recommend as a good summer read.

  2. Love, baseball and musicals are 3 of my major food groups. I will have to remember this one for my TBR pile.
