Thirteen Pet Peeves that Jen has about life. I don't consider myself a whiner, but I do consider myself opinionated.
- The world has become dumber, people don't want to learn.
- People want it now, not later when they can afford it, but now! So what if taking out a loan means you have paid more for something, at least you have it now.
- I don't want to hear you fighting with your child/boyfriend/girlfriend/parent or boss on your cell phone while I am shopping.
- When I am at the register paying for my groceries, I want your attention on me, your customer, not the other cashier who came in 5 minutes late after her break. I don't care, I just want to pay and have my groceries bagged.
- Parents who think their kids are the second coming to pro sports. We live in NH, it's a small state, we don't have that many professional athletes and the percentage of athletes becoming professional superstars are already a very small percentage of those playing college sports, do the math!
- Just because your kid may be a good athlete in third grade does not always mean they will continue to enjoy the sport when they are 13, so parents, get a life......your own!
- If you get paid to teach, then teach, don't get up in front of my child's class and complain about your poor salary. The kids don't care, it ticks the parents off and your benefits are 10x better than the average Joe. If you don't like the pay, leave and get a job where you have to sign up for your two weeks off in the summer in January! Stop whining to my kids.
- Local news- this is New England and it snows. Snowstorms and blizzards do not require names. And as a side note, get your reporters off the side of the highway, you're just adding to the poor driving conditions.
- Media in general- the local Fox station touched upon this last night: Seriously I don't care about Nicole or Brittany, it doesn't affect my life, nor is it news. Where do you get off saying people want the information? How do they really determine what constitutes a real news story?
- Medical Insurance- can someone explain to me why we a paying a lot for it and still have a huge deductible? Somebody's getting rich and it isn't me!
- Crying kids in stores - they're little, bored and don't want to be there. Think of your children, even if you are unable to comprehend that nobody is enjoying the screams, cries coming from your child, bring them to a park or home. Plan your shopping trips.
- Bass in cars- why does my car need to vibrate with the sounds of your music playing in the third car behind me?
- Getting in on a fun thing late- I like the Thirteens and hope someone continues on with the idea. It's like learning how to ski in March......

I'm with you on all of it except the snowy roads part. Can't relate to that! :-)
ReplyDeleteMine is posted.
I agree that we are getting "dumber" as a society. I think you'll enjoy my TT this week - it's all about books. Have a great weekend, XINE
ReplyDeleteThursday Thirteen has come to an end.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed my visits here and consider us friends.
Thank you for sharing your thirteens with me.
The comments you left me filled me with glee.
It is hard to believe it is really true.
I am trying very hard to not be blue.
Happy TT'ing!

I am so with you! We need TT to continue because I love yours! Kids in stores...ugh! Not caring about celebrity "news". Love your thirteen!
ReplyDeleteAs I said in my TT on things that "tick" me off *heh*--there're more where they came from... and some of them wandered off and squatted on your post.
ReplyDelete;-)
Good choices. But on that #12... if all that you get out of the noise coming from the other car is the bass, it's not music. In fact, if the other driver has to have it turned up that loud, it isn't music.
I used to flash a sign to animals like that: "Get your hearing tested!" but then I realized they were probably so woefully illiterate that the sign was doing no good...
celeb 'news' is one of the things dumbing us down. i think they use it as a distraction to keep us from focusing on the real issues.
ReplyDeleteand cellphone fights in public places? just not cool. that happened to me at the library friday! a mom with a kid that must have been begging or wheeling as her side consisted of about twenty 'no' or 'absolutly not'
anyway thanx for visiting my TT 13 ways to support the troops.
hey your first TT last week was cool too. I've missed most of those books tho several of the authors are my favorites. my habit has been to head straight to the library catalog online to look for and order books i encounter on line like this...but i can't do that anymore. our county library system is about to close--april 6--and i've got too many books i'm trying to finish up with as it is.
aren't you glad TT isn't ending afterall?
