Newsworthy? I don't think so..

There is a lot of hurt going on in the world today, and I don't think Jessica Simpson's grief over her lost dog should be a headline on CNN. How about those families in Georgia devastated by the floods? How about people worried about paying their bills and taking care of their health? I will even step over to the right and think that maybe people worried and afraid of their government should be a headline. But then celebrity and I use that word sarcastically, trumps disaster, fear and healthcare. Sorry Jessica, your story does not rate and join the millions of us who have lost a pet, get over it, move on and shame on you People magazine and CNN.

  1. I hate to disagree with you, so soon after your return to blogging and all, but I think PEOPLE mag is the perfect place for the Simpson saga. When I get my PEOPLE and US on Friday, I want complete mind candy. (Uh-oh! Will you respect me now that you know I actually subscribe to PEOPLE & US?)

  2. I agree with you Jenny ... at least about the CNN part (however I don't watch CNN, so how should I know). The Gal says she wants "mind candy." Not to put too fine a point on it, but isn't that "mindless candy?"

  3. Okay, so maybe a little blurb in People, but a story that ends up as a headline CNN?

What is she famous for anyways?

    I like your new header.

  5. Ok, "mindless candy." I don't look to PEOPLE for "journalism." I enjoy mindless candy to balance out Time and Newsweek. Just like I bounce between chick lit and history when I read books. I also can't resist critter stories, even sad ones.

But I understand, and agree with, Jenny B's basic point. Michael Jackson has been dead for 2 months now (or is it three), and it seems every day there are more "bombshells" on CNN/HLN. I'd be happier if that was chronicles within the pages of PEOPLE, too.
