A Parent's Rant

Today's football game really irritated me beyond belief. Our JV team played a first year team, which pitted our mostly freshman team against 9th-12th graders. Even if my son was one of the 4 juniors playing, at least he was big enough to ward off most of the dirty hits. He was out the last 1/2 of the game with a bruised rib. I made the mistake of asking the varsity coach what the purpose of the game was. His reply made me feel that I wasn't the first to ask...his answer was that the other team was a first year team and that our JV's could have handled it. I pointed out the size discrepancy which I guess meant nothing. After looking back at the exchange, I realized that I have a defense mechanism where I just walk away rather than face some problems head on. In this case, it was a no win situation, but I wish I could have said. " If you are going to have JV play first year teams, then at least bring down some of the talented underclassmen playing up...." But I didn't.

To put it all in perspective, my son wants to practice tomorrow, because he thinks he will have a chance to play varsity this Saturday in a non-league game. Hey Moms of girls, I think this is one time where I wished I had girls!

Sorry about the crap your son has to pu up with football. Glad my boys never went out for sports in high school.

Hope things calm down for your family soon.

I sure dislike writing in this one inch space. oh wow! I sent the comment and it changed back to m normal and doesn't recognize me as a regular blogger.
