Manic Monday: Crisp

Today's Manic Monday word from It's a Blog Eat Blog World is CRISP. There was a stream of conscious event going on in my brain when I read the definitions for crisp and usually my thoughts aren't easily connected. But I think you will be able to follow it:

First I thought about the weather and how crisp the mornings are going to start feeling here in New Hampshire. My next thought was about apples and apple picking, then it went right to Apple Crisp which I used to make in the microwave. From Apple crisp where I use oatmeal, I thought about oatmeal cookies. Then I thought about stepping away from the computer...( Yes, Susan, it can be done) to making some oatmeal cookies without using raisins which my kids hate, to chocolate chips that my kids do love. Of course I thought about the six pounds that I gained over the summer and the fact that if I do make cookies, I will have to go outside for a long walk this afternoon.

But my crisp chocolate oatmeal cookies became butterscotch oatmeal cookies due to the lack of chocolate chips in the house. (Gotta put that on my list, it's a staple here. ) I only took a little walk to enjoy the crisp, early Fall feel of a September afternoon. Where did your mind wander off to with the word crisp?

  7. Mmmm. Cookies! I've never thought about making oatmeal cookies without the raisins, but I often think about making chocolate chip cookies without the chocolate chips :) My daughter makes a great cookie she calls the "Gutbuster" using a mix of different chips -- but if you start on those, you'll gain more than six pounds, I'm afraid :(

  9. I of course was taken to a bowl of warm apple crisp served with ice cream and images of Oliver running in the back yard with the leaves crunching under him....too cute.

I think I gained six pounds just thinking about the crisp.

  10. We picked about 4 five gallon buckets full of apples on tuesday, made apple crisp that night. It was much better then the apple pie I made a month ago with green apples! It wasn't bad mind you, add enough sugar and anything tastes good. lol
