Here goes, my second attempt at my thirteen list....My favorite summertime foods.
- Strawberry Shortcake: Fresh Strawberries, Heavy Cream, and bisquick- Could it be any easier?
- Mom's Easy version of Strawberry Shortcake: The picture says it all!
- Cheeseburgers: So what if we can have them all year long, they are better in the summer.
- Grilled Sausages: On Sub rolls with american cheese, peppers and onions
- Grilled Chicken: Marinated with Italian Dressing at least 12 hours!
- Pasta Salad- diced peppers, onions, tomatoes in a bowl, mix with Italian dressing and then dump some cooked macaroni with a tablespoon or two of mayonnaise
- Chicken and Cabbage Salad: My cousin makes this recipe and it's so simple and delicious. There are so many variations of this salad and here is a recipe similar to hers.
- Tomato and Mozzarella Cheese: Drizzled with olive oil and fresh basil.
- Corn on the cob: Has to be fresh!
- Clams: Love Steamed clams and we can fill a bucket digging for them up in Nova Scotia. However, the kids don't get into it like my husband!
- Fried Mackerel: If they are running, these fish are a blast to jig for, lots of hooks and fish flying in the boat. Tasty snack, dipped in cornmeal and fried.
- Lobster: At least one or two summer meals, with a cold beer.
- Fresh Fruit: The good stuff like watermelon, cherries and blueberries.
Like the header? I sent Samulli a picture of myself at the beach and this is what she drew... I wish!!

It all sounds awesome! I like my steamers with an ice cold beer :-)
ReplyDeleteWe had cheeseburgers tonight, in fact, with friends. You're right; they ARE better in the summer!
ReplyDeleteHappy TT my friend!
Ice cold beer in the summer with most of the list, definitely!!
ReplyDeleteI like pasta salad that is pasta, italian dressing, and the frozen veggie mix of corn, black beans and peppers. SO SO easy, and good!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday.
Oh stop! you're making me jealous!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting me :)
I have to try the tomato/mozza one that sounded delicous.
ReplyDeleteI think I only ever drink beer in the summer and it has to be absolutely ice cold.
Hey now I'm hungry and thirsty...lol!
Great Header! Even better list. You are right that cheeseburgers are better in summer (big fat ones!) and corn on the cob needs to be fresh and sweet! Dang, I'm hungry now. See what you did to me! Where's the snowcones or Italian ice?
ReplyDeleteMy first list had Ice cream on it, but then I lost it in blogger space, I do wish that there was a redo button...but lobster got on this list instead.
ReplyDeleteI could eat Watermelons everyday of the summer. And strawberries.
ReplyDeleteI love Strawberry shortcake!
Great Thrusday Thirteen.
Mozzarella and cheese is the bomb why is it that it is best in the summer.
ReplyDeleteYum, fresh fruit and corn on the cobb! I actually haven't had a cheeseburger yet this summer, but it sounds really good. And you're right they are just better in the summertime. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have something like ice cream than lobster though. I've never been a fan of seafood, but maybe that's because I've never had really good seafood - it's tough when you live nowhere near water.
Happy TT and thanks for visiting my list! :-)
I'll never forget the time my DH and my uncle polished off six pounds of steamer clams in one sitting between the 2 of them!
ReplyDeleteI love watermelon in the summer !
ReplyDeleteahhh yes! what a lovely list!
ReplyDeletegotta love summer! amazing how things taste differently in summer too ya know? I love ice cream too
Sorry I didn't leave a comment last night. Internet Explorer crashed and by the time I got it back up my youngest son was out of the shower and reminding me that I had PROMISED he could use the computer.
ReplyDeleteWe love strawberry shortcake. I use the individual angel food cakes though.
I'm craving for all of those now, aaaaarghhh!!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my essentials TT.
Hm, now this is a yummy list. It makes me hungry all over again, even though I just had lunch. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks delicious. And I am so envious that you live in a place where you can actually get fresh lobster or just go to the beach and dig up some clams.
One thing I will never get, though, is the appeal of pasta salad. Just. Can't. Eat. It.
BTw, I love that you use one of my headers. That's what I make them for. And it looks great on your blog, if I may say so myself. LOL
They all sound wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm corn on the cob!! Love the entire list. And because I haven't had breakfast yet, I love it even more! Great TT list.
ReplyDeleteTerrific, now you made me hungry.
ReplyDeleteThough sausages with american cheese sounds sacreligous.
Damn you, woman! It's lunchtime here! I should be eating nice, boring, green salad and here you are with corn on the cob and cheesburgers! It's a truly delicious list.
ReplyDeleteYum! I could go for some strawberry shortcake right now.
ReplyDeleteI'll be right over -- with my fork!
ReplyDeleteyou made me hungry reading your list. YUM!!!
ReplyDeleteMan, I am HUNGRY now. I need a cheeseburger, pasta salad, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. What a great hunger-inducing list. Happy Thursday! (Now I gotta go find something to eat)
ReplyDeleteNow all I need is some summer weather here and I'd feel like eating lots of those. I can't believe it's July and I'm still eating spring food and not salards. Great TT :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love tomatos, mozzarella and basil!! In the summer I also like to have bruscetta (sp) on some bread. Pretty much the same thing, just chopped up like a salsa.
ReplyDeleteWe were watching Food TV and they were talking about all of these wonderful summertime snacks. One was honeydew melon rolled in prociutto (sp again?) which I had never tried before. I think I will stick with the plain old honeydew melon :)
Great list! The shortcake looks sooo yummy!!!
Jessica
I have to agree with everything on that list! Yummy!
