#5 Thursday Thirteen- How Irish am I?

In the spirit of holiday, here are 13 Irish things about me. Ireland is on my dream list of places to visit, maybe next year.......
  1. My maiden name begins with Mc
  2. One of my great-grandmother's maiden name was Murphy
  3. A family geneology done by uncle showed that our family came from Ireland
  4. Raised Catholic and know that St. Joseph's day is the same week as St. Patrick's day. How do I know this? I went to St. Joseph's school in the Irish section of our city.
  5. My parents had Irish music on record albums including The Irish Rovers.
  6. My oldest brother was named Brian and he had red hair
  7. One of my grandfathers was a piano playing bar regular who could have been one of the characters in Angela's Ashes
  8. My mother won't read Angela's Ashes b/c she basically lived through some of the events.
  9. We love beer, cry at weddings and funerals.
  10. Wakes are sad, but it's a time for our family to get together.
  11. Fair skin, freckles
  12. Hot tempers, I was once told by a lawyer that my Irish temper could be dangerous....lol, vengance and all that.
  13. My younger brother went to Ireland with two of his buddies, all with Irish last names and had the time of their lives with relatives of one of the friends. Basically they were adopted by one of the families for a week.

Oh I LOVE your Thursday Thirteen!

I'm a Montgomery and a Morris. My husband's last name is Russell. My son's name is Bran and he's a red head with blue eyes and freckles like me.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, and I LOVE your subject.

  11. What an awesome TT! I'm 1/4 Irish. My mom's side of the family had the surname Cloud, which was changed at Statten Island from McCloed I believe.

Can't wait to celebrate on Saturday. And I have a friend who's living in New Orleans and is looking forward to Sunday's St. Joseph festivites.

    Happy TT!

  14. there was a Mc in my ancestry too. my dad's grandfather or great-grandfather dropped it when immigrating to America. Scotch-Irish on Dad's side plus German-French on Mom's side = Heinz 57 according to my Mom.

    thanx for visiting my TT:

  22. Great list! Soaring Amongst The Clouds (my 19 year old daughter) has been fascinated with Ireland since she was a wee one. She hopes to visit Ireland one day. Celtic music is her favorite too. :o)

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I'm sorry to hear about your brother. It's not easy when a beloved passes on. My prayers are with you.

Hey, your bro went to Ireland and not you? You must go. Nothing worse than having to listen to little bro go on about how much more Irish he is than you b/c he revisited his roots. Trust me on this one.

Plus, I hear Ireland is beautiful.
