To say that I am an avid blog reader would be a lie, I just pop around the internet and peruse different sites. However, now I have been inspired to write about what matters to me in my life. Maybe there will be strangers out there who can offer me a different view of what I perceive or just to tell me to get a life. But I look forward to writing and expressing myself online.
Hiding behind Internet identities: How many do we all have? Right now, I have up to 6. I post on one teacher forum under an anonymous name and another with a form of my real name. Then there is myspace.com where I am Jenny with a dog for my picture that I use only to check up on my children's myspace pages and to view those of the kids in our small town. (If other parents did this, I can only imagine their reactions). Okay, so then Livejournal beckoned based on what I read on Myspace and that can be mildly interesting to read the angst of suburban kids. My last identity is my gaming profile on Pogo.com, I am seriously addicted to playing games on line. This game playing has definitely changed my leisure time. A future blog will be a reflection of my compulsive hobbies.
Future musings--> Oldest going off to college next year, Leaving teaching after only 4 years, The state of Special Education in schools, Youth sports, Sandwich generation, Raising boys, the list can be endless.
Right whatever is on your mind. If others don't like it, then they don't have to read it. By the way, I like your intro about being 40 something and not knowing what you want to be when you grow up. I just turned thirty, have a degree in History, still bartending and waiting tables, and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. The thought of going back to get my masters is very daunting. I don't feel alone anymore. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny! Just read your blog after you stumbled across mine. I can't wait to read more. Funny you say what you want to be when you grow up. I always say when the kids get older I will figure out what I want to be. I am 29 and my youngest is 2, so it will be at least 10 years before I start to think about what I want to be when I grow up. Have fun with your writing, and I look forward to reading. Thanx Winona
ReplyDeletePretty neat to get comments on my first blog! Thank you. I will keep writing about my growing up and Winona enjoy your kids before you need to start thinking!
ReplyDeleteJen
i really only have 2 identities i use...but numerous emails.
ReplyDeleteI want to know what you're thinking of doing. I think you should be a nerd, like my husband. You're amazing with all these computer/technological toys. Fred just bought me a thing that allows me to play a CD player through my car radio. Cool. I can listen to banjo music. Keep writing.
